On the basis of the Institute of Atomic Energy NNC RK the Regional Seminar "Fuel Behavior Modeling and Fuel Research Testing" held from 18 to 21 of May 2011, organized by the IAEA in cooperation with the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan National Nuclear Center.

16 specialists and experts in the field of nuclear fuel cycle and nuclear reactors safety from 10 countries took part in the meeting:

• Austria
• Armenia
• Bulgaria
• Hungary
• Lithuania
• Republic of Belarus
• Republic of Kazakhstan
• Russia
• Slovenia
• France

The following questions are discussed at the seminar:

• existing research facilities;
• availability of technical base in the region to study fuel behavior and operational parameters implementation;
• post-radiation experiments;
• ongoing activities related to the fuel behavior modeling in the reactor and long-term storage.

Technical tours to IAE NNC RK reactor facilities and test benches are performed within the framework of the seminar.

In addition, participants have visited the Experimental field and the Museum of Semipalatinsk test site.
