20 years ago in Kazakhstan tests at the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site were stopped. For the people of Kazakhstan who know all the horror of nuclear testing, the question of their total ban is particularly significant. It is quite natural considering that for 40 years at the Semipalatinsk test site 450 tests, which affected half a million people, was carried out. Therefore, in August 29, 1991 President Nursultan Nazarbayev did not hesitate and issued a decree on closing the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site. A few years later, this day was declared as International Day of Action against nuclear testing at the initiative of Kazakhstan by 64th session of the UN General Assembly. In anticipation of this significant date in the city of Kurchatov the solemn meeting at the enterprises of the National Nuclear Center of Kazakhstan was performed, letters of thanks to employees of enterprises and commemorative badges were presented. In August 27 with the participation of distinguished guests: Dzhaksaliev B.M., Vice Minister of Industry and Trade of RK, Taukebaev S.Sh., deputy mayor of VKO, Sharipov M.B., Director, Department of Atomic Industry and Energy of Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of RK , Knyazev V.A., acting head of the expedition, V.G.Khlopin Radium Institute (Russia), Gilmanov D.G., a veteran of the National Nuclear Center, Kartoyev S.U., vice president of the International antinuclear movement "Nevada-Semipalatinsk" a plenary session on STS issues were held. At 4:00 p.m. in the city house of culture the grand meeting took place at which the guests of honor were awarded by diplomas of the mayor of the city, thank -you letters, badges "Семей ядролық сынақ полигонының жабылуына 20 жыл". Creative groups gave meeting attendees a memorable concert. The fireworks finished the event. |
