On October 13, in Semey and Kurchatov, East Kazakhstan, activity within the frame of the International Forum "For the Nuclear-Free World" was held. It was attended by representatives of 26 countries and 20 international non-governmental organizations. Including representatives of the UN, International Atomic Energy Agency, Governments of the U.S., Japan, Norway and Germany, the diplomatic missions of Russia, China, France, and India, the mayor of Nagasaki, leaders of the international NGOs.

At the airport, the guests were met by the mayor of East-Kazakhstan Berdybek Saparbayev. Taking another seat in the helicopters a part of the arrived went to Kurchatov, where they visited the National Nuclear Center and Museum of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site. The Forum participants familiarized themselves with the implementation of the investment project "KTM Tokamak testing reactor creation". KTM Tokamak is a unique facility, specially designed for research and testing of candidate materials for fusion energy, which must operate at high temperatures, strong magnetic phenomena, and ionizing radiation. Likewise, the Forum participants visited the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site territory, "Baikal-1" complex (an area for the long-term storage of spent nuclear fuel), where IAEA Director, Yukiya Amano, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yerzhan Kazhyhanov, Executive Secretary of CTBTO Preparatory Commission, Tibor Todd made their statements.
